Sustainability Commitment

At Flavour Makers, we believe the food we create has the power to shape the world. We see ourselves as stewards of the environment, responsible for leaving it better for future generations. We champion Australian manufacturing, value family, and uphold the highest standards of human rights.

Every action we take is an opportunity to make a positive impact, both locally and globally. We support the ambition of net zero by 2050 and are taking steps to reduce emissions over time and will strive to become a regenerative company that supports and grows the Australian food industry.

Sustainability is a journey—one that demands dedication, innovation, and continuous investment. We focus on practical steps that drive real environmental, social, and economic impact.

Better Food for a Better Future and a Sustainable Planet.

Sustainability Strategy

We have developed our sustainability strategy to operationalize key material topics within our organizational framework, embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into every function, decision-making process, and daily operation across our value chain. Through Flavour Makers, we prioritize Responsible Sourcing and Minimal-impact Production to deliver products that align with our commitment to sustainability.

🌍

Protect the Planet Always

Focus on minimizing environmental impact and supporting sustainable production practices across all operations.

🤝

Improve Lives Always

Enhancing social well-being through ethical practices, employee engagement, and community support initiatives.

📦

Responsible Sourcing Always

Ensure ethical sourcing and transparency across the supply chain to support sustainable growth and accountability.

Our vision reflects a deep commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations, fostering a collaborative mindset across the entire Flavour Makers Group. We’ve developed one global strategy, led by dedicated functions and supported by experts, to drive consistent implementation across all our markets and operations.

We take a long-term, future-oriented approach to managing sustainability, taking responsibility for environmental, economic, and social outcomes throughout our value chain. Our governance framework ensures compliance with external regulations, while also supporting our commitment to decarbonization and sustainability goals.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

We support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by focusing on ethical sourcing, sustainable agriculture, and protecting human rights.

Specifically aligning with the following SDGs:

Targets

Near Term Targets

Focus on immediate actions to reduce environmental impact and set measurable sustainability goals for the next 1-3 years.

Long Term Targets

Strategic objectives that guide Flavour Makers’ sustainability efforts over the next 5-10 years, ensuring lasting impact.

Net Zero

Flavour Makers is committed to achieving Net Zero GHG emissions across our value chain by 2050.

Powered by the Sun

Flavour Makers switched on solar infrastructure across our Governor Road and Woodlands Drive facilities in December 2021.

Capacity: 1.8 GWh/year of renewable energy. Most energy is used on-site, reducing reliance on the grid. Surplus energy flows into our virtual network or supports causes we care about.

Environmental Impact: Electricity accounts for nearly 60% of emissions across our Australian facilities. Solar reduces Scope 1 & 2 emissions and supports our Net Zero 2050 goal.

Achievements: In 2023 alone, we avoided an estimated 748 tonnes of CO2e - equivalent to removing over 160 cars from the road for a year.

Benefits: Beyond emissions reductions, solar improves energy independence, shields against electricity price rises, and creates long-term value for our business, people, and community.

A Big Step Forward in Recyclability

Flavour Makers was recognized at the 2025 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards (PIDA) for our breakthrough Australian Organic Food Co. Vanilla Custard Mono-Material Retort Pouch.

This fully recyclable mono-material pouch overcomes longstanding challenges in flexible packaging. Unlike traditional multi-layer pouches, it can now be processed through existing soft-plastic recycling streams.

Plastic recyclability is essential to reducing landfill waste, supporting a circular economy, and maintaining food safety and freshness. Our innovation ensures convenience while helping the environment.

These awards highlight Flavour Makers' ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and creating packaging solutions better for people, products, and the planet.

Giving Back to Our Community

Vinnies Volunteering Day
Our team spent a day helping at St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) Moorabbin store - sorting donations, hanging apparel, and assisting on the shop floor. A chance to connect with the community and support those in need.

Beach & Path Clean-Up
Our team collected around 15kg of waste while walking from Mordialloc to Mentone, helping keep our local coastline clean and enjoyable for everyone.

Supporting Foodbank Victoria
We donated 37,831kg of food - equivalent to 68,096 meals - helping Foodbank provide essentials to thousands of Victorians every day.

Together, these initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to giving back, supporting good causes, and creating stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities.

Organisations we work with

Our sustainability partnerships

We understand that our impact can extend beyond or four walls, and are proud to support these organisations who's values align with ours.

Australian Organic Food Co has partnered with the Carbon8 regenerative which encourages and supports farmers to transition to regenerative agriculture by assisting them in rebuilding the carbon (organic matter) in their soil.
Flavour Makers is proud to support 1% For The Planet through our Passage Foods Veg Curry Bowls. We donate 1% of all global sales of the range to non-profit partners dedicated to plastic recovery and education.
